Seb | "Paint!"

Watch out! Seb's got the camera!

The only art medium Seb loves more than paint (or at least equal to it) is markers, and even washable ones create a little too much chaos and destruction at this point. So paint it is. Right now we're working on learning the order that goes with painting, meaning, "Dip your brush in the water. Okay, now rub it in the color you want... and now put it on the paper!" He likes the results, but when left to his own devices for a while he finds the method of loading his brush with paint, washing the paint off, and then painting with muddy water much more to his liking.

Today he was excited to paint circles, a triangle, and numbers. Soon we will start some fall themed paintings!

TOP TO BOTTOM
showing off his circles before we cut them out / showing me his "teeth" / artsy shot of those dreamy eyes / Mama! Not only is Seb a painter, but he's an aspiring photographer. I was trying to ham it up for him, and apparently with great success! / messy hands / there are those teeth! / more posing with the artwork & the raw quick oats with yogurt on top that he specifically requested for lunch / surveying the artwork during lunch / circles / numbers

North Carolina | Giant consignment sale

The Kids Exchange is one of the biggest baby/kid consignment sales in the nation, and happens every 6 months (hooray!). Seb and I came away with a few pretty snazzy items. My most exciting purchase was a pair of Saltwater sandals, which I'll admit I was desperately hoping would be there waiting for us, and they were! Now let's hope they're his size this summer or the next. Sweet Faro shoes (swoon), new jeans, green shorts & one pretty fabulous bike for the dude. Oh and shout out to my baby-man (again). I could not have imagined him behaving better during a 3 hour shopping trip. We took our radio flyer wagon, a few toys and a couple snacks, and everyone was singing his praises as we perused the goods. I have one beef, though. He threw out the incredible color-blocked moccasins that I picked out for the baby... maybe he's protesting like Lily on Modern Family??

Where do you like to find deals for the kiddos? Happy weekend!

taking the KCWC plunge.

So I've waited until the very last day to announce what I'm going to be about this week. And if you're into last minute stuff, you should join me!

It's called Kids Clothing Week Challenge (kcwc). And during this week I will be making as many clothes for my little man as I can, but don't be surprised if it's just one thing. This is fine with me, though. I figured one thing is better than none, as he is currently wearing several pair of pants that are size 3-6 months. Yes, they're a bit short, and by "bit," I mean ridiculously short.

Happy Monday, my friends! And if you're not a follower of A Cup of Joe (who isn't!?), you should check out this link she shared yesterday full of beautiful mother/child photos. There are some precious ones.

Parisian doll

Isn't this lovely? I want to make one for myself, but I feel like a fake. I've never been to Paris, and French words are so difficult to pronounce if you don't know the language. You can fake it with others, but not french. I'm reading Jane Eyre right now, and I hate just having to completely skip over whole sentences and paragraphs.

And for fun, because we all like to dress like Europeans every now and then:

DIY | If you want to be a Supermom

Isn't this wonderful? We used to have a horse like this when I was little, and though very cool, it was not quite as fancy as these. I can't wait to make one for my wee little cowboy.
