The Secret Garden

It's rainy again today, and I must say that I love it. It always makes for the perfect day inside, snuggling with Seb, drinking tea and reading good books. I've been re-reading The Secret Garden and am astounded that I didn't like it all that much when I read it as a young girl. It is beautifully written and unfolds in such a magical way. I underlined the quote above in my book because I love rain, and I've never read a description of it quite like that. Those words remind me of the time my friends and I visited Dachau, a Nazi concentration camp in Germany. The rain would not let up as we explored the remnants of the horrors that once were, and "it seemed quite natural." There seem to be two sides to rain.

But even with its double-nature, it does make everything clean, fills our wells, ends droughts, and makes things grow. And the last bit is what I want to talk about. I love flowers and plants very much, and would love to fill our home to the brim with plants of many kinds. And if I could have a bunch of yellow garden roses on our table every day, I wouldn't complain, but then again—who would. I thought that we were going to be moving into an apartment with gloriously sun-filled windows, but was disappointed to realize that all but one of our windows faces North. Even our balcony doesn't get any sun. The best for our energy bill, but not so great for growing plants indoors or out. For this reason, I've started a little blog called I've Stolen a Garden, words also from The Secret Garden. Yes, it all comes full circle now. It is my garden that will not die for lack of sun, and will not die for lack of posts because it is a picture blog, so I can be super lazy and share pretty things with you and not have to write. I hope you like it!
