Going to the Mattresses—my mattress, to be exact.

Our new mattress arrived today, which is why I'm going to make this short and sweet. I want to take a shower, cuddle up on my new bed, and read a little Helprin (see photo below) and fall asleep dreaming of light, love, bridges and a labyrinth of magical city streets, all before 10:00 p.m.

Ready, set, go.

  1. Congratulations on the mattress - looks so nice. What do you think of Helprin? He's definitely on my reading list.

  2. I like what I am assuming is the You've Got Mail reference (as opposed to the Godfather reference). :-)

  3. haha! well, thanks to you've got mail, i know that it's a godfather reference. ;)

dawn, the two helprin novels i would recommend are freddy and fredericka and winter's tale. i read freddy and fredericka the summer after we got married and absolutely loved it. it is brilliant and hilarious—the wittiest thing i have ever read. i am almost finished with winter's tale, and have to say that although i was sceptical at points, i am completely taken with it. helprin's style is unbeatable and the beauty and intricacy of this story constantly leave me speechless. anna leutheuser wrote a bit about it on her blog: http://anna-gemutlichkeit.blogspot.com/2011/01/peter-lake-and-perfectly-just-city.html

hope you can carve out some time for helprin soon!

  4. Wow! Your mattress looks so squeezable. Haha! The topper made it even more seem comfortable and durable. We also have that in our bed. It serves as a support and it somewhat adds a dramatic appeal to the bedding. You'll surely have a great night's sleep with this mattress! I hope you still do!

  5. Mattress stores let you test their products to help us decide which one is right for you. Our body has some kind of physical need when it comes to mattresses. Considering what kind of a sleeper you are, I hope that you have picked the best for you. Don't forget about the bed cover too. It keeps the quality of the mattress, avoids the mattress from getting stained, and most importantly, keeps the bacteria away. Always maintain a clean mattress for your family's health and comfort.
