blackboard backsplash

I really love the idea of blackboard paint. I don't think I would use it on an entire wall, unless it was in a school room for our kids, but I love it as a surface for a kid table, or refrigerator. My favorite idea is this one, which I just discovered on re-nest I have always dreamed of doing a tile backsplash, but not knowing when we will ever own our own place makes me think that this is a fabulous alternative. Not to mention that it would be a fabulous and easy place to create lists and menus. Do you like the blackboard paint look? If so, what's your favorite way to use it?

also, how to paint over a chalkboard wall & how to make your own chalkboard paint (so that you can customize the color!)

  1. I would do a chalkboard wall for a classroom. I also love the idea for a chalkboard wall calendar (http://www.marthastewart.com/271574/make-custom-color-chalkboard-paint) and the commenter who painted with magnetic paint first to create a magnetic chalkboard wall.

  2. I'm halfway through a project using blackboard paint right now!! I'm using a great old frame that I got for $0.61 at the consignment store and painting the glass with the chalkboard paint and then gluing it back in the frame to use as a grocery list/housekeeping task list. Needless to say, I love blackboard paint!
