midweek finds/ideas & the dressing table i love.

[via]

I was perusing some of my favorite blogs and found a couple things I am bookmarking. And isn't this vintage dressing table set to die for? I love the wide mirror.

Dream team Aron + Ashley from Hither & Thither show us how to make a gallery wall that is mishap and guess work free. Thank you!

The textile queen, Lena Corwin, received this gorgeous muny baby blanket for mother's day, and dresses her baby boy in tie dye. She is so cool.

Do you have really long hair and crave some funky styling ideas? This girl has plenty.

taking the KCWC plunge.

So I've waited until the very last day to announce what I'm going to be about this week. And if you're into last minute stuff, you should join me!

It's called Kids Clothing Week Challenge (kcwc). And during this week I will be making as many clothes for my little man as I can, but don't be surprised if it's just one thing. This is fine with me, though. I figured one thing is better than none, as he is currently wearing several pair of pants that are size 3-6 months. Yes, they're a bit short, and by "bit," I mean ridiculously short.

Happy Monday, my friends! And if you're not a follower of A Cup of Joe (who isn't!?), you should check out this link she shared yesterday full of beautiful mother/child photos. There are some precious ones.

Mother's Day No. 1

Happy Mother's Day!

Wow. What an amazing Mother's Day. Cody woke up with Seb at 6 a.m. after only 3 hours of sleep. What a great husband, eh? Then he let me sleep in until 10 a.m., made me a pancake breakfast with fresh blueberries and black raspberries. Seb enjoyed the blueberries and pancakes a lot. We then watched 1/2 of Hitch, took a family nap, and then went to a place called The Root System, a local succulent/cacti greenhouse. There we picked out my Mother's Day gift, an amazing, ruffly-edged succulent! We then capped off the evening with a family walk, a latte for me (compliments of Sebastian), and the second 1/2 of Hitch. Don't I have the best boys?

I hope you had a great, and blessed Mother's Day!

P.S. Check out my new glasses!

Friday Fashion—The better summer sandal

No Flip-Flops

I'll be the first to admit that I will be wearing flip-flops this summer. Not entirely by choice, however. I would love to do away with mine, especially now that they're quite worn out, and don a pair of leather sandals for every day. You may think I'm crazy, but if we're honest with ourselves, flip flops really aren't that comfortable anyway. The strap always make my feet sore at the beginning of the Summer. They only trump other sandals with the convenience factor. Oh. And often, the price tag.

Do you have a favorite non-flip-flop sandal?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Here is a beautiful unlikely love story to enjoy during your down-time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

P.S. Treat your mom right. And if you're a mom, I hope you get spoiled rotten. Last year I was very pregnant, and woke up to find pancakes and fresh strawberries for breakfast, along with a Winnie the Pooh card with a very special note from my unborn child. That's right, Cody claims that our baby jumped out while I was sleeping and went to the grocery to get me some treats. And made pancakes. I have the best baby.

P.P.S. If you must get flip-flops, Havianas are the best.

Friday Food—1st Birthday Cake

Happy May, my friends!

Sebastian and I spent a couple hours sunning ourselves out in the grass today. We took a picnic of blankets, books and toys with us, but all Seb wanted to play with was his bottle of sunscreen. I should have known.

But because it's May, it's about to get crazy in a first birthday sort of way! This is Sebastian's birthday month, and I've been spending a lot of my free time working on birthday invitations and party ideas. We are having a big family party at my parent's home and then a smaller one the day before his actual birthday. I am so excited to celebrate my little man with our family and friends!

Do you have any great ideas for a first birthday cake? I want to do something different, but the classic mini cake is just so darling. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

P.S. Some healthy(ish) dessert ideas for babies! A chocolate banana custard would be a tasty 1st birthday cake.

Knockoff DIY: Anthro chair and Pottery Barn growth chart

Two great projects right here. I've commissioned my little brother to make this oversize ruler growth chart (thanks, Tami!), and have tucked this anthro style chair tutorial away for when we have a bit more space.

If you like the growth chart, but don't want to make one (or want a non-wood diy version) check out this Etsy shop. I love that she made them out of a bendable material. I think a heavy canvas version would be fabulous.

Flash Sales: Two sites for mom, little one and the incredible gift-giver

Have you ever visited Zulily or Eco Baby Buys? Even if you don't have a little one of your own, I highly recommend checking them out. They are the perfect sites to find great gifts at great prices! I've bought some Tiny Ducky brand blankets for friends and hats for Seb from Zulily, and remember those Finis swim diapers? Those are from Eco Baby Buys.

Happy shopping!
