blackboard backsplash
I really love the idea of blackboard paint. I don't think I would use it on an entire wall, unless it was in a school room for our kids, but I love it as a surface for a kid table, or refrigerator. My favorite idea is this one, which I just discovered on re-nest I have always dreamed of doing a tile backsplash, but not knowing when we will ever own our own place makes me think that this is a fabulous alternative. Not to mention that it would be a fabulous and easy place to create lists and menus. Do you like the blackboard paint look? If so, what's your favorite way to use it?
also, how to paint over a chalkboard wall & how to make your own chalkboard paint (so that you can customize the color!)

blue. green. gingham.
Ok. Let's face it, I'm probs not getting either color (b/c $$) but hypothetically, which color should I get? Or better yet, which color would you get? I am really into gingham right now. And ooo... with the perfect jeans? Jeans are my answer to every fashion question. And gingham?

Meet Flora Douville
I came across the blog Flora Douville's Adventures in Wonderland by way of Lena Corwin, and was tickled to not only see Flora's fabulous photographs, but the lovely prints she made in a recent workshop. She used Lena Corwin's Printing by Hand, a book that has been on my wishlist for ages. There is something so marvelous and thrilling about making your own patterns and printing them on various fabrics. I have a piece I made in college, and absolutely must make it a top priority to frame. It has been in storage much too long. Have you ever experimented with print or pattern making? If you aren't the crafting type, but love the look, check out Muny, Aden & Anais, and Giardino. Muny and Aden & Anais are for babies, but I totally want one for myself.
P.S. This woodcut is my favorite art we have in our home (and the frame!). It was my birthday present from husband last year.

To blog or not to blog. Take my poll, please?

For the last couple weeks I’ve been toying with the idea of nixing the blog.
I enjoy sharing my thoughts, ideas and family life with you all, but I often get frustrated with the lack of focus and organization of this online journal. I also don’t want to only be able to share ideas and wishlists. I want to share finished projects, and things learned. I’m sure many of you share in my desire to have time to do things and live life, and stop wishing and wanting and chit chatting about plans that never come to fruition.
Like KCWC...
Has anyone noticed that I haven’t posted any new little gem of an outfit, or even so much as a pant leg from my supposed sewing week? That’s because I have nada. I went through a series of obstacles last week (no pattern, no fabric, yes fabric, yes pattern, now no fabric...), all of which bring me to Monday with nothing to show. It wasn’t an entirely useless week on the sewing front, however. I faced a lot of issues that would have kept me from pressing on any other week. I have a pattern cut out for a new pair of pants for my bub, but have to get some fabric (of course!), so assuming that this blog stays up, I’ll be sharing those with you in the near future.
So if I haven’t lost you on this rambling post yet, I’d like to ask you to take the poll to the right and let me know what you’d like to see more of on The Priscilla Home. If there’s something I haven’t listed that you would like me to talk about please comment.
Thanks. You're a peach.
the cotton anniversary
Cody and I have been married two years today! And what wonderful years they have been.
Cody is such an amazing man. He is slow to complain and quick to forgive. He loves things like circus peanuts, sunsets & sunrises and big green fields. He can bust a move, and it's hilarious, and he loves me so much he wishes Seb said "ma ma" before "da da." I've never met a more selfless person and feel so blessed to be married to him. God has so much in store for him, and I can't wait to see where these next years take us.
P.S. Why "cotton anniversary?" Stay tuned to find out what we gave each other!

Friday Fashion—The year of 24
No, not the TV show! My birthday, the "big 2-4," is in a little less than a week (!), so please forgive me for my self-indulgence. I have a lot of things on my wishlist, and many, admittedly, not at all fashion related. I would love, however, to have these things, just a few of my ideal summer (and simply practical/frivolous) pieces. What's top on your wishlist right now? Happy Friday!
Bensimmon Sneakers, Pleated Pembroke Dress, Gingham umbrella, Vera Bradley Eyeglass Case, J.Crew Marguerite Leather Wedges (in toffee), California Coast Pencil-stripe Tee, Silk Sandbank Tank (in black truffle)
